How to Use Your Own
API Key

Use your own API keys with BlogStorm to reduce credit consumption and gain more control over your AI usage.

Save Credits

Using your own API key reduces credit consumption by approximately 50%

More Control

You have direct control over your AI API usage and billing

Secure

Your API keys are encrypted and stored securely

Flexible

Switch between using BlogStorm's API or your own at any time

1

Access API Settings

Navigate to Settings in your BlogStorm dashboard and find the 'API Keys' or 'AI Configuration' section.

This section allows you to configure your own API keys for different AI providers.

2

Get Your API Keys

Obtain API keys from your preferred AI provider:

  • OpenAI: Visit platform.openai.com → API Keys section
  • Claude (Anthropic): Visit console.anthropic.com → API Keys
  • Gemini (Google): Visit makersuite.google.com → Get API Key
  • Deepseek: Visit platform.deepseek.com → API Keys
3

Enter API Key Securely

Paste your API key into the corresponding field in BlogStorm settings.

Your API keys are encrypted and stored securely. They're only used when you generate content with that specific AI model.

4

Test Connection

Save your API key and BlogStorm will test the connection automatically.

A successful connection means you can now use your own API key for content generation.

5

Select Model in Content Creation

When creating content, choose the AI model that matches your API key.

Using your own API key means BlogStorm credits are consumed at a reduced rate (typically 50% less) since we're using your API quota.

💡 Important Notes

  • Credit Reduction: Using your own API key typically reduces BlogStorm credit consumption by approximately 50%, but exact savings may vary based on the AI model used.
  • API Billing: When using your own API key, you'll be billed directly by the AI provider (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google) according to their pricing. BlogStorm credits are still consumed but at a reduced rate.
  • Security: Your API keys are encrypted using industry-standard encryption and never shared with third parties. You can revoke or update them at any time.
  • Fallback: If your API key fails or runs out of quota, BlogStorm can automatically fall back to using its own API (if available in your plan).

⚠️ Important Warning

Without an API key, credit consumption doubles. While BlogStorm works without your own API key, you'll consume credits at the standard rate. Adding your own API key is highly recommended for cost efficiency.
